The Paul Langlois Band, led by the Tragically Hip guitarist Paul Langlois, will release a new album, Guess What, via Pheromone Recordings / Cadence Music Group on July 14.

Guess What comes after Langlois played the closing ceremonies of the 2022 Canada Summer Games in Niagara Falls, which sparked his love of songwriting again. He teamed up with Greg Ball on guitar and backing vocals, lead guitarist Joe Carscallen, Matt Mulvihill on bass and drummer Billy Anglin to create the collection of songs that would become Guess What, recording the album in just eight days.

"It was more a live experience, recording live off the floor until we got the takes we wanted and having a blast playing together," said Langlois in a press release.

Lead single "It Matters to Me," which arrives today, is a chilled-out rock song about our relationship with time and the things that start to matter in different stages of life.

Langlois said about the single: "I think I started with picturing myself in a precarious, possibly life-threatening situation as a teenager, which obviously happens to a lot of us at that age and stage, then I just went from there thinking about my life and growth since then, and some of the things that became important to me over time."

Guess What follows the songwriter's previous solo efforts, 2012's Fix This Head and 2014's Not Guilty.
